Astronauts of the “Cro-5” mission are getting ready to travel to space
The crew of the new SpaceX astronaut mission entered the launch headquarters. During this operation, which is called “Cro-5”, a capsule carrying 4 astronauts is going to be launched from Pad 39A of the Kennedy Space Center.
According to Space, the mentioned operation will be carried out on October 5 (October 13), during which Nickel Mann, Josh Kasada (NASA astronauts), Kiyuchi Kawata (Japan) and Anakikina (Russian astronaut) will go to the International Space Station.
These 4 astronauts entered the Kennedy Space Center last night. Of course, NASA and SpaceX had planned for them to appear at the launch headquarters on October 3, but the typhoon Yan forced the Crew-5 mission to be postponed.
A Falcon 9 rocket is supposed to take the Dragon capsule carrying the Crew-5 crew into Earth’s orbit. This group of astronauts stays in the International Space Station for 5 months. One of the important points of this mission is that Kikina will be the first female commander in the International Space Station.
Earlier, the Yan storm forced NASA to move the SLS rocket from the 39B launch pad to the VAB building, and thus the Artemis 1 mission to send the Orion capsule to the lunar orbit was also delayed.
